Aircraft and passenger recovery during an aircraft’s unexpected unavailability

چکیده
Abstract Airlines design their initial schedules under the assumption that all resources will be available on time and flights operate as planned. However, some disruptions occur due to mechanical failures unexpected delays of maintenance, making aircraft unavailable for a certain period time. These deviations from plan result in high operational costs addition serious inconveniences experienced by passengers. In order handle passenger recovery problems simultaneously, we work integrated networks at which routings itineraries are superimposed. Consequently, could calculate actual profit cancellation cost evaluating each itinerary while considering seat capacity limitations. our computational results, use daily schedule major U.S. airline clearly demonstrate there is an optimal trade-off between operating passenger-related costs.

Integrated aircraft and passenger recovery with cruise time controllability
Disruptions in airline operations can result in infeasibilities in aircraft and passenger schedules. Airlines typically recover aircraft schedules and disruptions in passenger itineraries sequentially. However, passengers are severely affected by disruptions and recovery decisions. In this paper, we present a mathematical formulation for the integrated aircraft and passenger recovery problem th...
متن کاملIntegrated Due Date Setting and Scheduling on a Single Machine Considering an Unexpected Unavailability
In this paper, an integrated machine scheduling withits due date setting problem has been considered. It is assumed that the machine is subject to some kind of random unavailability. Due dates should be set in an attractive and reliable manner, implying that they should be short and possible to be met. To this end, first, long due dates are penalized in the objective function. Then, for each cu...

2 Aircraft cabin ventilation In early commercial jet aircraft, passenger cabins were ventilated with 100% outside air. In more recent jet aircraft, approximately 50% of the ventilation air is outside air and the remaining 50% is filtered recirculated cabinair. This development has allowed for fuel savings as well as a supposed improvement in the relative humidity of cabin air. With typical pass...
متن کاملA large neighbourhood search heuristic for the aircraft and passenger recovery problem
This paper introduces a large neighbourhood search heuristic for an airline recovery problem combining fleet assignment, aircraft routing and passenger assignment. Given an initial schedule, a list of disruptions, and a recovery period, the problem consists in constructing aircraft routes and passenger itineraries for the recovery period that allow the resumption of regular operations and minim...
متن کاملA column generation post-optimization heuristic for the integrated aircraft and passenger recovery problem
The use of hub-and-spoke networks by most major commercial airlines means that small disruptions can have a significant impact on their operational costs. These disruptions, such as delayed or cancelled flights, reduction in arrival and departure capacity, and unavailable crew or aircraft, occur frequently and when they do, airlines must recover their operations as quickly as possible. In this ...
